Bryson Markulin Zickmantel Structural Engineers is a firm of structural engineers and technicians in Vancouver, B.C. Established in 1998, BMZ provides structural engineering, consultation, design, and inspection services throughout the Lower Mainland and across Canada, the Western United States, Mexico, and Asia.
Our portfolio includes: low-rise to high-rise residential (as tall as 63-storeys); large mixed-use projects; commercial/retail buildings; office buildings; light industrial warehouses; institutional and public facilities such as ice rinks, sports facilities, and extended care facilities; and seismic upgrading, addition, and renovation projects.
Our team is knowledgeable with current Building Codes and Material Codes for the latest design of reinforced concrete, pre-cast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, post-tensioned concrete, tilt-up concrete, structural steel, load-bearing steel stud, wood-frame, and masonry.
Our company's philosophical emphasis is to direct a high level of engineering expertise towards achieving an economical solution to our clients' needs. As structural engineering specialists, we have successfully worked within the context of a "design team" with many of Vancouver’s top architects and engineering consultants. Such expertise means we have a constant awareness of architectural and other project consultants' concerns which interface with the structural design. This enables us to produce an economical design, responsive to the needs of the clients and well-coordinated with the architectural, mechanical and electrical design.
BMZ brings depth of experience, state-of-the-art technical competence, dedication, and the energy and enthusiasm of our people to any project.
We strive to be current with leading technology and materials, and fully incorporate both AutoCAD and Revit/BIM to develop our construction documents and coordinate with the design teams. Our firm is increasingly using REVIT Structure Building Information Modeling (BIM) for the design many of our projects, including Livingstone House (Vancouver), The Crown (Coquitlam), and the N3 Condos (Calgary). Current projects utilizing BIM include: The Station Square Development (Burnaby), Kings Crossing (Burnaby), Foster and North Road (Coquitlam), River District Parcel 15 (Vancouver), Brookmere (Coquitlam), and Burrard Place (Vancouver).
